With our tier list State of Survival heroes in 2022, you can make good choices and avoid wasting your resources. In this SoS hero guide, I'll introduce you to all the hero types, their specialisations, the prerequisites to level them up, improve their rank and make the most of their situational skills.
First of all, it is important to group the heroes by category. Each type of hero has a natural bonus linked to it.
In our tier list heroes State of Survival, there are currently 3 major survivor types, recognizable by the icon next to their in-game name:
While some heroes have a very specific use, others benefit from several sub-types that make them versatile. Our main tip is therefore to make sure you have a certain balance in your team between the different specialities, major and minor.
Then, the heroes are divided by rarity. This rarity may seem incidental, but it actually defines their maximum power and therefore influences our tier list of State of Survival heroes.
In reality, a hero of the epic or legendary type evolved at the same stage will have a similar utility, but in the long run most heroes of higher rank are a better investment because you won't reach a power ceiling too quickly. Rarity can be recognised on each hero by the colour of its icon.
As in all games with a gacha system, the best advice I can give you is this: don't spread yourself too thin. Avoid wasting your hero upgrade resources on just anyone. Prepare your strategy and aim for the endgame and the SoS hero generations it brings.
Choosing 3 or 4 heroes from the tier list SoS to focus on if you want to use them in the end-game is certainly the best way to proceed. Obviously, you have to take into account the type of each hero to avoid duplicates. Boosting two Shooter heroes to the max and having none of them good enough as a Brawler would leave your army very weak. Therefore, it is better to prepare a hero for each important aspect of the game: garrison, rally, PvP, infected... This tier list of State of Survival heroes focuses primarily on the early/mid-game.
Heroes | Types | Rarity | Information |
---|---|---|---|
Travis | Pathfinder, Infected | Epic | Travis is a State of Survival hero to be constantly upgraded as you will never go without him to save stamina. He is a major asset for your development. |
Joker | Pathfinder, Headquarters | Resonant | Joker is currently the best Pathfinder hero for boosting Riders. To use him to his full potential, simply resonate him with your most advanced Pathfinder hero. He will be used in PvP in particular. |
Maddie & Frank | Scout, Patrol, Rally | Legendary | Maddie & Frank will serve you well. She is one of the best scouts and will prove useful over several generations. Her multiple types make her a particularly useful hero, as her upgrades give you many different uses. |
Nanami | Fighter, Harvest | Epic | Nanami can easily replace Chef and will prove her usefulness quickly while remaining useful later as a garrison SoS hero. |
Miho (or Zoe) | Scout, Seat, Rally | Legendary | Miho replaces Sarge in the later stages of the game and shines with her versatility, as does Zoe, who takes her place even later in the game. |
Nikola | Brawler, Infected, Rally | Legendary | Nikola is one of the best State of Survival heroes specialising in garrison. He can boost tower defence, which is a great advantage. |
Jeb | Shooter, Seat, Rally | Legendary | For the rally, Jeb works well, as well as Maddie & Frank, and also boosts the damage of the troops. |
Ray & Rolex | Fighter, Patrol, Siege | Legendary | Ray & Rolex is mainly used in garrison. |
Eva | Shooter, Seat | Eva is an effective PvP hunter. | |
Sarge | Shooter, Infected | Epic | Although it will lose its effectiveness over time until generation 3, Sarge is a good starting point for your composition as it is easy to level up. |
There are four harvesting heroes in State of Survival, each with their own speciality that you will need to exploit to achieve better results.
Heroes | Type | Rarity | Usefulness |
---|---|---|---|
Chief (or Nanami) | Fighter, Harvest | Epic | With his flamethrower, Chef, despite his name, specialises in gathering wood. Probably to fuel his stoves. Epically rare, he is a pretty good investment, as is Mike. |
Mike | Shooter, Harvest | Epic | A gunfighter by trade, Mike excels at collecting food. |
Rusty | Fighter, Harvest | Rare | Rusty focuses on collecting Metal, where he gets the best results. |
Ghost | Scout, Harvest | Rare | Phantom is a hero who will serve you well at the beginning of the game, especially in gas harvesting, his speciality. However, he is not a long term asset in your composition so it is better to avoid focusing on him. His rare type is also an important limitation in his evolution. |
The improvement of heroes is essential to find their real use in the team composition. The level is to be dissociated from the SoS hero rank which we will see in the next section. In order toupgrade your State of Survival heroes, you will need to spend your Combat Manuals carefully choosing which survivors to upgrade first.
Early game heroes such as Ghost or Rusty are not worth the investment. Better to save resources for better heroes as you can find them in our tier list SoS survivors. Manuals can be obtained through various means such as events, quests and fights.
Also, don't waste your resources on Eunjoo, Candy, Jane, Becca or Basel who are easily replaceable for the better. To find all our SoS tips and avoid strategic mistakes, take advantage of our State of Survival tips.
To optimise your resource expenditure as much as possible, it is important to know exactly how much each rank costs in terms of resources. This helps you to plan better until the end of the game. Here is a table summarising the ranks, sub-ranks and fragments needed to reach them. Please note that in order to rank up a hero, you must have fragments of that specific hero or universal fragments and a certain number of hero badges.
Rank | Max. level | No. of Fragments | Intermediate ranks | Total |
---|---|---|---|---|
Locate a hero | - | 10 | 1 | 10 |
Cadet | 20 | 2 | 5 | 10 |
2nd Lieutenant | 25 | 3 | 5 | 15 |
1st Lieutenant | 30 | 5 | 5 | 25 |
Captain | 40 | 8 | 5 | 40 |
Major | 50 | 30 | 5 | 150 |
Lieutenant Colonel | 60 | 70 | 5 | 350 |
Colonel | 70 | 120 | 5 | 600 |
General | 80 | - | - | - |
Total | 248 | 36 | 1200 |
Badges are fairly easy to collect, which is why they do not appear in this table.
By the way, to boost your rewards in-game, you can use theHuawei App Gallery and its Game Center, which offers dedicated deals for gamers, whether you're a F2P or a cashback enthusiast.
