The PUBG Mobile World League 2020 Season Zero

PlayerUnknown's Battleground has greatly boosted the Battle Royal style of play. If its situation on PC is more complicated in the face of major competitors such as Fortnite or Apex Legends, its future e-sport may be on mobile.
In any case, the PUBG Mobile World League 2020 Season Zero is shaping up to be the first major world championship with $850,000 in cash prizes at stake.

An online competition

With the Covid-19 pandemic still raging around the world, the organisation did not have much choice. These first world championships with teams from many different countries will be held online.

There will be several phases and players will have to be consistent over time. The competition will run from 10 July to 9 August. It is TencentTencent, a Chinese company, will be in charge of the organisation. If the game has lost some popularity in Europe, the Asian public is still very fond of it.

A big first for PUBG Mobile

With a revamped structure to fit the online format, the competition will feel like a slightly special season rather than a regular season.
That's why it's being called the PUBG Mobile World League 2020 Season Zero. A bit of a special name, but one that makes a statement.
As the world league is divided into the PMWL East League (India, Nepal, Japan, Pakistan...) and the PMWL West League (Europe, Turkey, Russia, Middle East...), we'll have to wait for all the intermediate results to find out all the respective representatives.
For e-sports fans, TSM will be there with an Indian line-up.

For the time being, we have to wait for more details. The exact structure of the tournament is not yet known. The number of rounds, the number of pools and the points system are still under consideration.
If the $850,000 cash prize is confirmed, it is not known how it will be distributed among the teams according to their ranking.
