The TFT Fates Championship kicks off in April and the best tacticians will face off against each other for the chance to win the title. There will be glory for the winner, as the competition is a world championship. But there will also be a very nice cash prize at stake of $250,000. Europe and France have a special status. In the last big competition, it was the very young KC double61 from Kameto Corp who won. As France has a very active community on TFT, we are crossing our fingers to make cocorico again!
CalendarThe TFT Fates Championship will be held in the UK from 1 to 6 September 2010, with a schedule, format and cash prize. The competition promises to be exciting and it will be possible to follow all the matches in streaming.
The official competition will last 3 days and will take place from 7 to 9 April. But before that there will be a qualification process. Everything is going to happen very quickly, but we don't know all the details of this process yet.
The players are divided into regions and will first have to prove their worth on the regional stage in order to have any hope of reaching the world stage. Each region is different (number of players, number of qualifying tickets, etc.), so there is not really a harmonised process. Each region will have its own methodology which will combine leaderboard ranking and qualifying tournaments. We will have to wait for more information on this subject, especially on the European qualification process.
The 24 best players in the world will come together to battle it out and hope to win the TFT Fates Championship. All regions of the world will be represented.
With 24 competitors, the tournament will start with 3 lobbies of 8 players. However, the players will not be divided randomly. They will be divided according to their regional performances. The precise system of these "seeds" is not yet known, but it will avoid finding all the Chinese in the same lobby for example.
All players who participate in the TFT Fates Championship will win money with a minimum of $4,000. Of course, the finalists will get the lion's share of the money. The overall winner will walk away with $41,500!
