
For a long time considered as an exclusively leisure activity, mobile gaming is constantly developing its competitive dimension. ESL Gaming, one of the largest organisers of competitions esport, has understood this and has launched its mobile league. TheESL Mobile Open 2021 will divide the world into three major regions: NA (North America), MENA (Europe, Middle East and North Africa) and Asia Pacific. Players and spectators will have no time to get bored with a packed schedule. Each region will organise its own events to crown its regional champions in 7 disciplines esport. Details are not yet known, but if the pandemic subsides, it is hoped that we will also see inter-regional clashes to prove once again that EU > NA.
The competitions will take place on LoL: Wild RiftLegends of Runeterra, Asphalt 9, PUBG Mobile, Brawl Stars, Clash of Clans and Clash Royale. There are some well-known disciplines esport . However, some of the top competitive mobile games such as Garena Free Fire or Mobile Legends are missing.
Everyone can hope to take part in this competition, which will last for several months. Registration is still open, but you'll have to decide quickly! Just go to this page and select your game. Depending on where you live, some disciplines may not be available. There are currently 80 countries eligible to take part in theESL Mobile Open and the organisers are looking to expand the list in the future.
First, a pre-qualification phase via ladder or cups will be held until May 6, with a last chance event on May 7 and 8. Then from May 10 to June 3, the qualified players will compete in a very selective play-in phase. Again, on June 4 and 5, the unlucky teams will have a last chance to be drafted. Competitors who successfully complete the various qualification phases will then have earned their place in the regular season of theESL Mobile Challenge (15 June - 7 July). The cream of the crop will compete against each other and the best teams will meet again for the Mobile Challenge Finals (17 - 23 July) which will close the competitive year.
In Europe, Riot Games is a key player on the esport PC scene with League of Legends, TFT and Valorant. But on mobile, the alchemy seems to take less hold. The MENA zone will not be organising competitions on LoL: Wild Rift and Legends of Runeterra. To participate in the ESL Mobile Open, you will have to fall back on one of the following disciplines:
